For Sonnet Summary #5, here is one of my favorite conference presentations I've ever done. DevOps Days Minneapolis has a tradition of fun and often funny five-minute Ignite Talks at the after party. In 2019 I decided to try out a combination of an Al Gore impersonation I had developed years earlier while active in the Chicago comedy scene and some IoT thoughts first presented at MidCamp 2017.

As a sonnet:

Yes, I'm Al Gore. Carrying legacy.
"It's time we all reach out for something new."
Learn distributed systems' recipe:
IoT products run actions on cue.

Post to Facebook when dishwasher's complete?
Is that a joke? Wait, no is *this* a joke?
This deck, or this sonnet, they're both off beat.
Al Gore's a set up with no punch line, folks.

Sink or swim. The repo is red or green.
Does the message change with the medium?
I used code to move the badge from the screen
to LEDs that fetch a premium.

Pendulum's swing back in the zeitgeist's brain.
Still, it can feel like a runaway train.
